You could argue that the sudden, global shift to full-time remote working in 2020 was equal parts blessing and a curse for business productivity.
During the peak of the pandemic, many organisations were forced to redefine the "normal" workday. As a result, many accelerated their adoption of technologies and policies that facilitated full-time work from home. The 'blessing' being that when lockdowns eased, those organisations were better placed to move to hybrid work — a blended model where some employees return to the workplace and others continue to work from home.
The 'curse' however, behind the general growth in productivity in the last 12 months, is an exhausted workforce. Despite the majority of business leaders citing that they are thriving right now, our employees say they are struggling and overworked.
The average person is spending 148% more time in meetings, sending 45% more messages, and working on 66% more documents.
In this episode of the Anywhere Operations Podcast, special guest Dan Bowen (Technology Strategist, Microsoft) and Michael Herbert (General Manager, Operations, Fastrack) discuss how to adopt hybrid working while minimising the human costs.
